Planets.
Happy Star Wars Day – May the 4th be with you! Students completed heliocentric planetary position activity.Click on image below to see planets moving along the ecliptic and retrograde motion.

Have a happy Star Wars Day!! I think the whole concept of retrograde motion is really cool. I never knew the planets seemed to go backwards, but now I know and I think it seems really cool. I especially like the image above.
May the fourth be with you. Retrograde motion is really interesting, and now the true pattern that the planets are fallowing is clearer after this activity.
I think it’s pretty cool that you can see where all the planets go in their orbits because in your lifetime, you won’t be able to see the complete orbits of some planets.
This activity is helpful when visualizing the planets that surround Earth. It shows the viewer what the planets orbit looks like from Earth and how slow Jupiter’s orbit really is.
This really helped me understand the motion of the planets, especially the backwards motion of some planets.
I never knew there was an actual star wars day but it makes sense that it’s on the 4th. This activity helped me realize that we have faster times of orbits than other planets and in the time it takes earth to orbit around the sun once Jupiter and Saturn have not even come close to orbiting the sun.
I did not know that planets have these little races. It intersecting to see how fast some of them move as compared to others. I am still wondering how some of the planets move backwards THEN MOVE FORWARDS. I THINK IT WOULD BE NEAT TO ACTUALLY SEE THIS IN THE SKY MOVING AT THIS SPEED.
I think it is really cool to see the planets orbits from earth. Even if someone is not really into science, I think they would find this interesting because you can see how some planets move so much slower than others.
The visuals in the diagram help make the concept of retrogade so much more clear!
I find it pretty awesome that you can see where all the planets are in orbit because as long as I am alive I will not see all of the planets completely orbit.
I thought that “may the 4th be with you” was very clever. I also thought that the idea of retrograde was very interesting.
