We used the PhET simulation from 2-24-11 to show how an acid diluted 10-fold will see its pH go “up” one whole number (Ex. from pH = 2 to pH = 3). The same will happen with a base and its pH will move towards pH7 as well. Students completed a chart in their notebooks to summarize important terms in acid-base dissociation. Students begin work on Acid Base activity that focuses on dissociation (Smartboard notes 2-17-11). What does the equation below show? Any idea what acid is shown in the image? White = hydrogen, red = oxygen, and grey = carbon. Can you name it?
