I have noticed an increase of saving errors lately with students using the Macs. It’s time for a refresher! In Moodle, you will see a new category under the High School banner called “Computer Info for Students” and inside this category, a course called “Computer Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials.” You will find video tutorials in this course. There is no enrollment key for this course; students may auto-enroll by simply entering their YS network login credentials. The collection of tutorials housed in this course will grow, so encourage students to visit periodically. Also, if you have suggestions for content that should be posted in this new course, please share them with me.
If your students use Macs, please consider sharing a specific resource with them, a tutorial called “Important Refresher — Are You Saving Correctly on Your Mac?” You can project it for the class to watch together, or you can direct students to use their computers to navigate to the course in Moodle. It’s less than five minutes long, and if they see it more than once, that’s probably a good thing.
Computer proficiency is a core competency. Thanks for helping students gain skill!
